The advancements made during the technological age have left a
lasting impression on the electric wheelchair market. Wheelchair batteries have
become highly developed, allowing for electric wheelchair makers to create a
diverse collection of products that meet every lifestyle. Today, there are many
different electric wheelchairs to choose from, each with their own benefits and
respective wheelchair batteries. The following six electric wheelchairs are the
leading products on the market today.
P9000 XDT by Invacare
Priced at $4,795, the P9000 XDT can travel up to 4 miles per hour. It also has a 36 degree turning radius and a spot for wheelchair batteries. Weighing only 142 pounds and standing 38 inches tall, 24.50 inches wide 47 inches long, and 19.50 inches from seat to ground, the P9000 XDT cannot hold much weight. However, it is inexpensive, folds, is easily maneuverable and has a swing away foot rest.
Priced at $4,995, the Jimmie can travel up to 3.75 miles per hour. It also has a 28 degree turning radius and a battery range of up to ten miles. This model is 23 inches wide, 35 inches long, and 20 inches from seat to ground, with a ground clearance of two inches. Consumers should note that the joystick is designed for right handed individuals. It also has an elevated leg rest, an arm rest that flips back and arms that adjust to the height of the passenger. It is relatively inexpensive and can be easily disassembled, making it ideal for traveling.
Jazzy 600 by Pride
Priced at $5,363, the Jazzy 600 can travel up to five miles per hour. It has a 19.50 degree turning radius, a 38.0 pound battery, and a battery range of up to twenty miles. Weighing 127 pounds, and standing 23 inches wide and 36.5 inches long, it has a swing away foot rest and a leg rest that elevates. The Jazzy 600 is an indoor/outdoor electric wheelchair, and uses ATX Active-Trac® Suspension to add increased stability.
Cirrus Plus EC by Drive Medical
Priced at $4,209, the Cirrus Plus can travel up to 5.40 miles per hour. It also has a 30 degree turning radius, a 56.0 pound battery and a battery range of up to fifteen miles. Weighing 90 pounds, and standing 20 inches from seat to ground with a ground clearance of 4.5 inches, it has swing away foot rest, a leg rest that elevates, arms that adjust to the height of the passenger, arm rests that flip back and an optional high back seat. The power chair is also foldable and lightweight.

Priced at $3,609, the Image EC can travel up to four miles per hour. It also has a 27.50 degree turning radius and a battery range of up to twelve miles. Standing 24 inches wide, 23 inches from seat to ground, and 42 inches long with a ground clearance of one inch, the Image EC has an optional high back seat, swivel captain’s seat and full reclining seat. As an added bonus, the joystick can be mounted on either arm rest, making this an ideal choice for left-handed users.
Nutron R51LXP by Invacare
Priced at $5,195, the Nutron R51LXP can travel up to six miles per hour. It also has a 33 degree turning radius and a battery range of up to 25 miles. Standing 40.75 inches long and 23 inches wide with a ground clearance of 3.5 inches, the Nutron R51LXP has a joystick for right-handed individuals and an average weight capacity.
